PORT OF HAIFA

SHIPYARD (HIGH MAST)
HAIFA, ISRAEL – JULY 2015

THE PROJECT

The Port of Haifa is the largest of Israel’s three major international seaports, which include the Port of Ashdod, and the Port of Eilat. It has a natural deep water harbor which operates all year long, and serves both passenger and merchant ships. It is one of the largest ports in the eastern Mediterranean in terms of freight volume and handles about 26 million tons of cargo a year.

THE PROCESS

In concert with our Israeli counterpart, and the cooperation of the Israeli government, we customized our own high mast pole at this seaport application in order to achieve the light levels needed to meet their security and visibility needs on the ground. We installed 162 AFL 400-watt at 5000K with a combination of 60×60, 60×135, and 85×45 optics mounted on twenty-five 100-feet high mast poles that we custom engineered for the location.

THE RESULT

With the setup we designed first in our digital imaging program, we were able to achieve that targeted 65 foot candles on the ground. The Israeli government was very pleased with not only the light output, but also the uniformity of the light levels, which was a major concern for their security video cameras.
