UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT LITTLE ROCK JACK STEVENS CENTER

SPORTS ARENA
LITTLE ROCK, AK – APRIL 2016

THE PROJECT

The Jack Stephens Center is a 5,600-seat sports arena on the campus of the UA Little Rock in Little Rock, Arkansas. Built in 2005, the arena is home to the school’s men’s and women’s basketball teams, known as the Little Rock Trojans.

The existing lighting consisted of traditional metal halide luminaires that had been installed in when the facility was constructed. These outdated fixtures were unable to provide the proper light levels and energy efficiency necessary for full illumination and budget needs so our team was called in to provide a much-needed upgrade to the lighting infrastructure.

THE PROCESS

The challenge for the SpecGrade team was to retrofit the existing metal halide fixtures with LED luminaires while throwing light a distance of 94 feet over a width of 50 feet without losing coverage, all while minimizing the glare.

THE RESULT

After the installation of our 25 custom High Bay 300w and 400w fixtures, the Stevens Center cut 55% of their energy costs, enjoying exceptional, camera-ready white balance and illumination levels along with the most energy efficient lighting system available on the market.
